Residents and businesses within the Superfast Essex Rural Challenge Project area of Epping Forest District are invited to test out the 1Gbps internet speeds being deployed across the region at a Gigaclear Demonstration Day.
Gigaclear, the pure fibre ultrafast broadband provider, is bringing broadband speeds up to 30 times faster than the UK average to rural homes and businesses in the region. Such speeds mean a three-hour feature film can be downloaded in 1 minute, 23 songs can take less than 10 seconds to download, and 200 photos less than 10 seconds to upload.
The free event is being hosted by Gigaclear and some of its partners, at Fyfield Village Hall, on Saturday 16 April, from 10.30am until 4.30pm. The aim of the event is to give the people living and working within the Epping Forest District community, as well as anyone else interested, the opportunity to test the ultrafast pure fibre broadband connection speeds being rolled out by the Superfast Essex Rural Challenge Project, co-ordinated by Essex County Council. Attendees are welcome to bring along their own smart devices and connect up to the network to see for themselves how fast they can perform.

The event will provide members of the public the opportunity to ask questions, find out more about the services available on the network, and place orders for a service, as well as view exhibitions from a number of experts.

Gigaclear began working with Superfast Essex as part of the Rural Challenge Project to rollout fibre broadband using Fibre-to-the-Premise (FTTP) technology in a pilot area in Epping Forest District in November 2015. More than 4,500 homes and businesses, across 18 parishes, stand to benefit from speeds up to 1Gbps. The project is expected to be completed by December 2016.
